DIY Dress Up Storage

For anyone who has a little one who loves to play dress up, you're well aware of how easy it is to lose precious costume pieces when there's not a designated storage spot. To keep her daughter's imaginative outfits corralled, Amanda from Old House to New Home built this custom closet fit for a princess.

After finding the plans from another friendly blogger, Amanda took 1x12s that she already had to be cut down at a home improvement store. She used her Kreg Jig to make pocket holes throughout, which helped make the building process more efficient and the end product more seamless. After assembling, Amanda caulked the shelf seams to hide any gaps or crooked edges. Once she gave the entire unit a coat of paint with primer, Amanda decked out the finished product with knobs, baskets, and other decorative elements that added an adorable flair to this classic command center.
